Tottenham ‘confident of new signing’ as Yang Min-hyeok heads to QPR
Tottenham starlet Yang Min-hyeok will join QPR on loan until the end of the season, according to Alasdair Gold.
The Football London journalist reported via X (29 January) that the Championship loan move will be completed on Wednesday (29 January) after Yang’s social media post suggesting a deal was on the cards.
Yang arrived at Tottenham in a £3.3million deal from Gangwon last summer and will now be granted the opportunity to adapt to the demands of English football further down the football pyramid.
Tottenham loan Yang Min-hyeok to QPR
QPR are rooted in mid-table security in the Championship, with neither a promotion charge nor a relegation fight ahead – Yang can therefore focus on playing first-team football without the added pressure.
The 18-year-old could have been a worthwhile option to challenge for a first-team berth at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with concerns lingering over James Maddison’s fitness among a long line of notable injury absentees.
At this stage, it is unusual for Spurs to willingly thin out an already barebones squad, with the side enduring a disastrous Premier League campaign thus far.
As mentioned, Yang’s loan gives hope that the Lilywhites will recruit before 3 February and, more importantly, add another attacking dimension to the front line.
Ever since Randal Kolo Muani turned down a move to Spurs in favour of Juventus, speculation has dried up in North London, with less than a week remaining in the winter transfer window.
Regardless, Yang will undoubtedly benefit from a spell in the Championship and will look to build on his 17 goal contributions in 38 K League 1 appearances for Gangwon before his Premier League move.
