Tottenham ‘at risk of massive Vuskovic transfer error’ as likely next club named

Tottenham have welcomed Luka Vuskovic to the North London club this summer after the talented defender was initially signed in 2023.

An agreement was found with Hajduk Split two years ago, when the 16-year-old Croatian had already broken into the first team.

Now 18, Vuskovic has spent the last two seasons out on loan, enjoying a superb 2024/25 campaign with KVC Westerlo in the Belgian Pro League.

The centre-back has already made his debut for the Croatian first team as well, appearing off the bench during the team’s 5-1 victory over Czechia.

Spurs to loan out Vuskovic

With Vuskovic finally in North London, Spurs fans are eager to see the defender in action under new head coach Thomas Frank.

However, according to Sun journalist Tom Barclay (July 4), the centre-back could be set to spend a third consecutive season on loan.

The player is due to report to pre-season training on Saturday (5 July), where Frank will survey the defender’s ability before deciding his immediate future.

If he is to be loaned out, the Bundesliga is a likely destination with Hamburg being one club who would be interested in a move for Vuskovic.

Spurs would be making a mistake by loaning out Vuskovic

Lucas Bergvall’s emergence last season should have proved to decision-makers at Spurs that age should not be a deciding factor when assessing the potential impact of a new signing.

The 19-year-old spent the 2023/24 season with Djurgarden before he was signed by the North London club, yet his impact in the Premier League was almost immediate.

Demonstrating incredible confidence and elite technical ability, Bergvall quickly found himself among the first names on Ange Postecoglou’s team sheet.

And nothing about Vuskovic suggests that his impact could not be just as impressive.

The 18-year-old scored an astounding seven goals from centre-back in Belgium’s top flight, and despite his age, has already showcased an air of physical dominance over most opponents.

The defender is incredibly successful in the air, and can often be spotted carrying the ball out of defence with confidence and security – two vital tools for success in the Premier League.

With Cristian Romero’s future uncertain, Frank and Tottenham may be minded to pay close attention to Vuskovic, who could well be the Argentine’s replacement in waiting.
