Tottenham advance for Coppola transfer after Europa League win, final answer set already
Tottenham have already made significant moves in the transfer market on the back of their Europa League success.
Ange Postecoglou has had to contend with a profuse number of injuries throughout the campaign, which taxed his team’s performances in domestic competitions.
Spurs fans have grown fond of the Australian manager, but will expect him to significantly improve on their 17th-place league standing next season, if he sticks around.
With the added demands of Champions League football to contend with, Tottenham will be determined to significantly bolster their squad, and looked to Italy to kick off their summer dealings.

Pisa starlet Francesco Coppola approach emerges
Lucas Bergvall‘s excellent first season following his transfer from Swedish side Djurgården has seemingly emboldened Spurs’ transfer strategy of targeting young players across the continent.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, it led them to Italian centre-back Francesco Coppola, who has just completed his loan at Serie C side Vis Pesaro from Pisa.
Competition | Games | Goals | Minutes Played |
Serie C | 29 | 3 | 2,470′ |
Serie C Playoffs | 6 | – | 540′ |
The Italy Under-20 international contributed to Vis Pesaro having a shot of promotion, playing every minute in the playoffs before they lost in the quarter-finals to Pescara.
Spurs were willing to open negotiations for the 20-year-old, but their approach was soon shut down as Pisa made it clear they were not open to letting their young prospect go ahead of their promotion to Serie A.
Tottenham will have to look elsewhere for a defender, with Monaco’s Vanderson also on their radar.

Spurs must prioritise central defenders
Postecoglou’s biggest issues in dealing with injuries have come in defence, with Cristian Romero and Micky Van de Ven‘s absences in particular conducive with their drop off in results.
Radu Dragusin stepped in for a while, though questions about his ball-playing qualities were raised before the Romanian suffered a season-ending knee injury.
Teenager Archie Gray was shoehorned into an unfamiliar position just to survive alongside veteran Ben Davies until Kevin Danso’s arrival offered some reprieve.
The season as a whole highlighted the deficiencies present in the squad, and with Davies’ contract set to expire and Romero linked with a move away, the Londoners must prioritise reinforcing the back line.
