‘Thomas Frank to green-light striker transfer’ as Tottenham negotiations underway

Thomas Frank has a significant task on his hands at Tottenham after their struggles in the Premier League last season.

Daniel Levy sacked Ange Postecoglou despite Spurs winning the Europa League, and that didn’t come as a shock considering they finished 17th in the English top flight.

The North London outfit now have to back the Danish manager and build a squad capable of competing on all fronts in the upcoming campaign, and a major rebuild is seemingly underway.

Tottenham in talks with Rosario Central for Alejo Veliz transfer

Negotiations are underway between Tottenham and Rosario Central for Alejo Veliz, Federico Lussenhoff says.

The Argentine outfit’s technical director has revealed that a move for the 21-year-old centre-forward hasn’t been ruled out as talks continue.

Lussenhoff is looking forward to the young striker’s return to Central this summer, but it remains to be seen whether they can come to an agreement with Spurs.

Speaking on Zapping Sport, as relayed by Rosario3 (23 June), he said: “Negotiations are underway, I’m not ruling it out. We all know what he can give us and what he gave us. We’ve worked hard in the transfer market and we’ll continue working. We understand the fans’ anxiety.”

Frank was influential in signing Mathys Tel permanently at Tottenham after his loan spell from Bayern Munich, and other attacking reinforcements are expected.

Veliz struggled during his temporary switch to RCD Espanyol last season, scoring just one league goal, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see the Danish head coach green-light his transfer away.

The 21-year-old may be surplus to requirements at the North London outfit as they could further reinforce their attack in the coming weeks.

Frank should ask for new number nine at Tottenham

Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo is a target for Spurs this summer, and it remains to be seen whether they can sign him.

It feels like the Lilywhites are desperate to add another attacker to their ranks in the ongoing transfer window, with links of Frank and Bryan Mbeumo reuniting.

Tottenham signed Dominic Solanke last summer, but the England international had an underwhelming debut campaign in N17.

Richarlison’s consistent fitness issues make him unreliable, giving the North Londoners an incentive to sign a quality number nine soon.

Spurs arguably had high expectations from Veliz, but the Argentine youngster has failed to fulfil his potential, and a permanent move away now feels like the best option.

It seems unlikely that Frank will give the 21-year-old enough opportunities to find his feet at Tottenham next season, and they should find an agreement with Central for him.

The young centre-forward’s situation in North London is certainly one to watch in the coming weeks.
