Sporting Lisbon agree £54m+ Viktor Gyökeres sale amid Tottenham transfer talk

Tottenham could make a huge impact this summer by signing Sporting Lisbon star Viktor Gyökeres.

Tottenham have had a difficult season, and despite the UEFA Europa League final on the horizon and possible Champions League qualification, the Lilywhites will need to make big moves in the summer transfer window to compete next year.

While Dominic Solanke has scored several important goals for Spurs, the striker has not been able to replicate the same form he displayed at Bournemouth.

Meanwhile, Richarlison has been linked with an exit after an injury-ridden campaign.

Therefore, Tottenham could be entering the summer window in search of a new number nine, and Gyökeres would certainly be a welcome addition in North London.

Sporting Lisbon agree to sell Gyökeres for £54million

Tottenham have previously been linked with a move for Gyökeres [Fichajes].

Ex-Spurs scout Bryan King exclusively told Tottenham News that a fee of between £50-60million would be needed to secure the striker’s signature, and this has now been backed up by Fabrizio Romano.

Gyökeres has been fantastic for Sporting Lisbon

As reported by Romano via X (18 May), Sporting have agreed with Gyökeres that the Swede can leave the Portuguese club for £54m.

Top European clubs are said to be interested in the striker as discussions continue.

Now, with Sporting reportedly ready to let go of their leading man for a fair sum, and Tottenham planning to invest in their future, there is not much holding the club back from making an offer.

Tottenham should go all out for Gyökeres

Tottenham signing Gyökeres would demonstrate that the North London club are serious about competing on all fronts next season.

Gyökeres finished as the top scorer in Liga Portugal with 39 goals and is currently leading the race for the European Golden Boot ahead of Mohamed Salah and Kylian Mbappe.

As well as this, the striker already has experience in England, having played for Brighton, Swansea and Coventry, which will make it easier for him to adapt to the intensity of the Premier League.

While Gyökeres will no doubt have several suitors lined up to snatch him away from Sporting, with the striker firmly in their sights, Tottenham could regret not throwing their hat into the ring.
