Son Heung-min lined up for Harry Kane reunion in Tottenham thunderbolt

Son Heung-min’s long-term future at Tottenham Hotspur is uncertain with several signs pointing towards a summer departure.

Tottenham’s skipper hasn’t been a guaranteed starter for Ange Posteocglou this term, and was dropped to the bench alongside Djed Spence and Dejan Kulusevski for Wednesday’s loss to Manchester City.

With the South Korean now 32 and on course for his lowest-scoring season in North London since his first at Spurs back in 2015/16, Son has been tipped to end his 10-year association with the Lilywhites.

Clubs in the Middle East have been alerted to Son’s potential availability this summer, but rather than a move to the Saudi Pro League, Tottenham’s number seven could end in a far more familiar destination.

Bayern Munich provide ‘perfect fit’ for Son Heung-min move

A return to Germany could be on the cards for Son this summer, with Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich eyeing up a move as they look to strengthen their options alongside a certain Harry Kane in attack.

Spanish outlet Fichajes reported on 26 February that Son “fits perfectly” with the player profile Bayern want to add this summer, and they can provide the silverware opportunities which have eluded Spurs.

Son has previous Bundesliga experience from his time at Hamburg – from whom Tottenham signed him in 2015 – and it’s expected that the South Korean will make a decision on his future in the coming weeks.

Son legacy secure at Tottenham as deja vu beckons

If Son does depart the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this summer and follows both Kane and Eric Dier to Bavaria, he’ll surely do so with the blessing of every single Spurs supporter after his 10 years of service.

Son became Tottenham’s talisman and leader following Kane’s £100million departure to Bayern in the summer of 2023, and the dynamic duo reverred in North London could be set to reunite two years later.

Spurs could already have a replacement lined up for the South Korean in the form of Wolves forward Matheus Cunha, and will hope to earn a hefty fee for Son in order to meet his £62m release clause.

Kane, meanwhile, could send up crossing paths with Son after a potential return to Tottenham was mooted, but if the two do link up once more in the Bundesliga. expect Bayern to reap the rewards Spurs fans were given for such a special period of time.
