Sky Sports journalist's update on Luca Williams-Barnett slammed amid Tottenham silence

Tottenham gem Luca Williams-Barnett is going nowhere.

That is the view of Spurs expert John Wenham, who believes that exit rumours are just noise.

The 18-year-old has been going between first-team squads and the Under-21 team.

However, he is yet to make a first-team appearance in the current campaign.

Roberto De Zerbi has put the Lilywhites under risk of losing their biggest talent.

However, Wenham believes that speculation is just that and dismissed possible exit claims.

Why Tottenham talent Luca Williams-Barnett is going nowhere

German journalist Florian Plettenberg reported on 7 October that Williams-Barnett was one to watch, with a move being planned.

He claimed that top Bundesliga and Premier League teams are keeping an eye on his situation.

However, Wenham believes that he will stay and it is all about his contract situation.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, he said: “They can plan all they want, he won’t be going.

“He turned 18 on 2 October and it’s now the 8 October, and Spurs have not announced that he’s signed another new deal.

“He supports Spurs, he’s represented by Base I don’t see him going anywhere.

“You know how these things work, as no new deal has been announced a journalist can just claim that Bundesliga club wants top English prospect.

“His agent is Fitz Hall, whose son is Tye Hall, zero chance of him leaving."

Tottenham have already started their attempts to keep him

There is renewed hope for Spurs' chances of keeping the academy star, as they are understood to be in talks over a new deal.

The Sun's Tom Barclay claimed on 7 October that while he was attracting interest from Chelsea, Manchester United, Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund, the N17 side want to tie him down.

His current deal is reportedly set to expire in 2028, but it seems as though there will be a solution that keeps him in North London.

That will be a relief for Spurs supporters and Wenham, who know just how talented the England Under-19 international is.

It appears that he will be sticking around, despite the interest from some top clubs.

De Zerbi needs to keep him happy, and give him more opportunities in the senior side.
