Pedro Porro exit: Tottenham ready for sale amid £20m transfer news

Tottenham are eyeing a transfer for Rayo Vallecano full-back Andrei Ratiu if Pedro Porro leaves, according to Mundo Deportivo.

The news outlet reported (29 December) that the right-back has a release clause of £20million, and a move in January is “likely”.

Spurs have the Romania international on their radar as a successor to Porro, who has been attracting interest from the likes of Real Madrid [AS, 31 October].

The La Liga outfit are aware that a transfer in the winter window is a real possibility, with Barcelona in the race for the 26-year-old as well.

Tottenham will miss Pedro Porro despite Andrei Ratiu transfer

Ratiu has made his way through the lower ranks in Spain and is finally fulfilling his potential in La Liga with Los Franjirrojos.

The Romanian moved to the Vallecas in the summer of 2023 but has had to bide his time for an opportunity in the first team.

In the previous campaign, the full-back was a bit-part player for Rayo and spent most of his time on the bench, but he has made 16 La Liga appearances this season, most of them as a starter.

Tottenham have relied on Porro to secure the right-hand side of the defence for a few years now.

The Spaniard has become an essential player for Ange Postecoglou at the North London club, providing an attacking threat from right-back.

Spurs’ form has dipped in recent weeks, and questions about the Australian manager’s future in N17 are now being raised.

If the Lilywhites are unable to compete for the highest honours, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the former Manchester City defender look for pastures new.

While Ratiu looks like a promising full-back, replacing Porro will evidently be a challenging task for Daniel Levy and Co.
