Levy left ’embarrassed’ by transfer failure as another player rejects Tottenham
Tottenham have not made the kind of start they would have liked to the summer transfer window.
Daniel Levy has found that winning silverware is not the answer to all his problems.
As part of the agreement which saw Giovani Lo Celso join Real Betis last summer, Tottenham agreed a £21million buy-option for Johnny Cardoso, which could be activated this summer.
However, Cardoso is understood to have refused to join Tottenham and looks set to join Atletico Madrid instead, with the midfielder not the only player who has turned down a move to the North London club.

Angel Gomes snubs Spurs for Olympique Marseille
Gomes had been linked with a move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this summer.
It had been suggested that Gomes wanted to join Tottenham after they qualified for the UEFA Champions League by winning the UEFA Europa League.
However, it appears that, just like Cardoso, the midfielder prefers the league he is currently playing in.

As reported by Alex Crook (6 June), Gomes has rejected Tottenham to join Marseille as a free agent, once his contract with Lille expires on 30 June.
The 24-year-old also held talks with West Ham but decided to remain in France.
Levy must find a solution at Tottenham
This is an embarrassing outcome for Levy, who is expected to build on the foundation gifted by the Europa League win.
Several teams have already been making waves in the summer transfer window, while Spurs have barely made a ripple. Levy must turn the situation around if Tottenham want to compete next season.
One way to do that is by resolving Ange Postecoglou’s future in North London. Players are unlikely to want to join Tottenham, considering how much uncertainty there is over who will be in charge next season.
Therefore, this needs to be sorted, as the more players that reject Tottenham, the more embarrassing it gets for Levy, who is already unpopular enough.
