Guglielmo Vicario 'unlikely to be happy' as most realistic Tottenham exit scenario emerges
Guglielmo Vicario may have to wait to seal a move away from Tottenham Hotspur, says a former scout.
The Italian missed the final months of the season after undergoing surgery to repair a hernia.
He last featured in a 3-0 home defeat against Nottingham Forest before returning to the bench against Everton and Chelsea.
With relegation avoided, Roberto De Zerbi has begun to draw up plans for the shape of his squad moving into the new campaign.
Things don't exactly look peachy at this stage for the 29-year-old after a difficult year in North London.
Vicario has been heavily linked with an exit, but he may be kept around N17 for at least half a season.
Tottenham could keep Guglielmo Vicario until January as number two
There have been questions surrounding the goalkeeping role at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this summer.
Antonin Kinsky helped Spurs to survive and has seemingly made a positive impression on De Zerbi.
The Italian reportedly sees him as his number one for the new season, leaving Vicario as his number two at this stage.
Ex-Spurs scout Bryan King doesn't believe the former Empoli man will leave this summer, with the keeper more likely to fight for his place until the winter.
Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, King said: "I think if he's going to go, it won't be until January.
"He's had surgery and lost his place and now there will be competition between himself and Kinsky.
"There is no harm in competition; it just depends whether he'd want to start the season as number two and potentially stay in that position.
"If that lasted the few first months of the season, I can't imagine Vicario will be very happy. If he wants to then go in January, it will give Tottenham a chance to sign a replacement."
Juventus interest could cool off for Vicario
The Old Lady have showcased the strongest interest in the Spurs shot stopper as they hunt for a new number one.
Juve have eyed the 29-year-old and Aston Villa's Emi Martinez, but both deals could prove to be off the cards.
Demands at Villa Park could put Juventus off moving for the Argentine, while Tottenham could keep hold of Vicario.
King has a point that he could thrive on the competition from Kinsky and could step up his performance levels to reclaim his number one shirt.
It will make for yet another subplot over the summer in N17 as De Zerbi looks to mould the squad in his own image.
