Guardiola ready to sanction sale of £25m+ Man City ace in major Tottenham boost

Tottenham could be in for a productive summer transfer window if they win the Europa League, and targets are already emerging.

Spurs have endured a woeful season and major squad changes are needed, but their job will become a lot easier if they qualify for the Champions League while winning their first trophy since 2008.

Tottenham are now eyeing up one Manchester City star who could be set to leave the Etihad Stadium this summer, but they are not alone in their interest.

The Lilywhites have now been handed a boost in their transfer plans, in what could be a defining window for Daniel Levy.

Spurs target James McAtee can leave Man City

Tottenham are reportedly interested in Man City midfielder James McAtee, and Pep Guardiola is now ready to sanction his sale.

McAtee is a very promising talent at City who has shone on several occasions, but found himself severely lacking in opportunities under Guardiola.

McAtee’s record for Man City this season

The 22-year-old has made 27 appearances this season, but just nine of those came from the start, and he was withdrawn at half time as City drew 0-0 with Southampton at the weekend.

GIVEMESPORT (12 May) have reported that Spurs are ready to make a move for McAtee. City were willing to let him leave for around £25million in January, and his price tag may not have changed too much in the months that have followed.

Aston Villa, Nottingham Forest, Brighton, Crystal Palace and Newcastle are also said to be interested in the English midfielder, and Spurs will face tough competition for his signature.

Tottenham need to win Europa League to sign McAtee

McAtee would be a solid addition as an attacking midfielder who can also play out wide, but Spurs will likely have to win the Europa League to sign him.

If Tottenham qualify for the Champions League, they will be able to spend more, making a £25 million outlay on McAtee acceptable, and would also be able to entice him to join.

With clubs competing in Europe such as Aston Villa and Newcastle interested, Tottenham will struggle to beat off the competition for McAtee if they have no European football to offer on the back of a season in which they may finish 17th.
