Gabby Agbonlahor calls out Sandro Tonali after comments made in Tottenham interview
Gabby Agbonlahor calls out Sandro Tonali after comments made in Tottenham interview.
The Lilywhites have completed yet another record transfer this summer with a move for the Italy international.
He has come in from Newcastle United for a fee which could reach £100million.
The 26-year-old has followed Mateus Fernandes through the door after his recent £85m move from West Ham.
Spurs have moved to revolutionise their midfield, with Tonali's addition certainly exciting the N17 faithful.
Agbonlahor, unsurprisingly, doesn't share that same joy and has actually rubbished what the new signing has said about his move to North London.
What did Sandro Tonali say about joining Tottenham?
Roberto De Zerbi and Co. certainly aren't messing around this summer.
The ex-AC Milan star has come in and will look to take the Lilywhites to the next level after so much recent frustration.
He will bring quality and experience to North London and it's clear he's excited about the move.
Speaking in his Tottenham announcement interview, he revealed how excited he is to play at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
He said: "I can't wait to play in this stadium because I play a few times against Tottenham with AC Milan in the Champions League and with Newcastle.
"I found a great atmosphere. I found every time a full stadium, which is not easy because the stadium is so big. The fans can change the game in two minutes. The fans work with you. I think the fans are one of the best."
It's safe to say that his comments haven't gone down well with Agbonlahor who hasn't held back.
Gabby Agbonlahor reveals why he thinks Tonali has joined Tottenham
The former Aston Villa man has regularly discussed the Lilywhites and their spending in recent weeks.
Talk of revenue and Premier League financial rules have left many fans bored in N17.
That hasn't stopped Agbonlahor from hitting out at Tonali after listening to his opening comments.
Speaking via talkSPORT on Tuesday, he said: "Atmosphere? Do me a favour. Don't make me laugh. I went to the game last season, Spurs against Aston Villa. Probably the quietest stadium I've ever been to. Zero atmosphere.
"You've gone for the big bucks, you've gone for the money that Newcastle probably wouldn't give you. Leaving Newcastle to go to Spurs is a crazy decision, lets just call it as it is. Do me a favour, the stadium."
It can be argued that Spurs have been worse than Newcastle recently, but there is true ambition at White Hart Lane that could result in an assault towards the top of the Premier League next season.
It's not a great look for Agbonlahor and appears to harp back to his financial frustration at Villa Park.
