‘Drăgușin packing his bags at Tottenham’ after Ajax transfer development
Radu Drăgușin has become an afterthought at Tottenham since suffering an ACL injury in January.
Tottenham signed Drăgușin from Genoa in January 2024, with the transfer seen as quite a coup at the time as the Lilywhites beat out competition from Bayern Munich.
However, the defender has struggled to make an impact in North London, and hasn’t featured since suffering an ACL injury during the 3-0 win against Elfsborg in the UEFA Europa League at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Thursday, 30 January.
And it appears now as though that might have been Drăgușin’s final appearance for Tottenham.

Tottenham discuss a move for Ajax’s Jorrel Hato
Thomas Frank has gotten straight down to business since replacing Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham.
The Dane appears keen on signing a central defender, with Jorrel Hato now emerging as an option.
Player | Appearances | Goals | Assists | Minutes |
Jorrel Hato | 50 | 3 | 6 | 4.185′ |
As reported by Ben Jacobs via Last Word On Spurs (14 June), Tottenham have discussed making a move for the 19-year-old this summer.
The first thought would be that Hato could replace Cristian Romero, who has been linked to Atletico Madrid. However, Romero is eight years his senior and is more experienced.
It is unlikely for Spurs to replace Romero with someone who lacks Premier League experience and is still growing. As such, it seems that Hato will be brought in as a Drăgușin replacement. There is little way of knowing how the 23-year-old will recover from his injury, and Spurs may be hesitant to take that risk.
Drăgușin had several other suitors before Spurs eventually snapped him up, and the Lilywhites could collect a decent sum from his sale this summer.
Hato is one for the future at Tottenham
Spurs’ interest in Hato indicates that they are continuing their plan to invest in young talent.
The young defender would make an excellent addition for the future. He is versatile and is comfortable playing in the left-back and centre-back positions.
Furthermore, he is a strong and technically gifted player who is calm on the ball and excels when in possession. In addition, he is also physical in his duels, can recover quickly and has an excellent understanding of the game.
Hato will no doubt be the object of several suitors this summer. Therefore, Tottenham must strike while the iron is hot to ensure this signing.
