Darren Bent reacts as shock Grealish to Tottenham transfer claim made
Darren Bent shared his instant reaction as Tottenham were touted as a next possible destination for Manchester City winger Jack Grealish.
Grealish has struggled to make an impact once again for the fallen English champions this season and could be on his way out of the Etihad Stadium in the summer.
Tottenham were previously linked with Grealish, but chairman Daniel Levy was supposedly reluctant to go £5million higher to meet his wage demands.
Grealish touted as Tottenham summer transfer target
While the England international has contributed to just one Premier League goal this season – and even that was an assist – Man City could still demand in excess of £50m for Grealish.
That will not stop speculation that Tottenham could look to sign the 29-year-old, though, with one such caller on talkSPORT [5 March, 5:23pm] suggesting exactly that.
The caller, named Darren, said Tottenham would be the best destination for Grealish this summer as Ange Postecoglou will let him play freely, unlike Pep Guardiola.
It was also suggested that Grealish would be a better option than Son Heung-min, who has himself struggled this season.
However, former Tottenham striker Bent seemed to suggest otherwise as he responded: “Son’s 32. You can’t hide the fact he hasn’t been as effective as he usually has.
“But Grealish is himself 29. He looks in unbelievable shape, but…”
Grealish should not be considered by Tottenham
As Bent was implying, Grealish is not exactly a youngster. Okay, 29 years old is traditionally a player’s peak, but his value will only then diminish beyond this point.

If Man City truly are holding out for £50m, that is a pretty staggering sum on the face of it when you consider Grealish’s record in pretty much all bar one of his seasons in Manchester.
Tottenham have been linked with a number of top talents across the continent, and it is important the net is cast further afield than English football castaways.
Grealish may well be able to revive his career away from Man City, but that surely will not be in North London under Postecoglou.
