‘Branthwaite announcement days away’ after £50m Tottenham bid bombshell

Tottenham have been regularly linked with a move for Everton centre-back Jarrad Branthwaite in recent transfer windows.

Thomas Frank is seeking further defensive reinforcements ahead of next season, with a potential exit for Cristian Romero on the cards following Ange Postecoglou’s sacking.

The European champions have been linked with numerous defenders, but their interest in Braithwaite could be coming to an end.

Branthwaite set to sign new Everton contract

The Toffees are close to securing Jarrad Braithwaite on a new long-term contract that would see him remain at the Merseyside club.

According to Lyall Thomas via Sky Sports‘ live transfer blog (27 June), the Premier League side are confident an agreement can be reached soon.

The renewal could be announced as early as next week, with the England international expected to commit his future to the club.

Tottenham had been preparing a £50million bid for Branthwaite, but that is a transfer that is clearly no longer worth pursuing given this new update.

It’s a missed opportunity for the North London side, who looked like a likely destination for the 23-year-old.

Spurs must strengthen if they hope to compete at the top

Frank will need to be backed in the transfer window this summer if the club are to compete with the Premier League’s top sides.

A return to the Champions League is a welcome boost for Spurs fans, but if the club fail to capitalise on it, the upcoming season could be a difficult one.

Spurs’ signing of Mathys Tel from PSG is a solid piece of business, but Tottenham need to be more active in the market, especially with rival clubs already strengthening their squads.

Tottenham’s pursuit of Eberechi Eze could now be in jeopardy, with local rivals Arsenal reportedly entering the race for the left winger, setting up what could be a drawn-out transfer saga.

Still, if the North London club can bring in the right players, it could be an exciting season for the Lilywhites.

Confidence will be high after ending their long wait for silverware last season, and there’s a growing belief that more trophies could follow.

To build on that success, Spurs must be smart in the window and fully support Frank, giving him the best chance to deliver even more joy to the fans.
