Axel Disasi transfer: Chelsea pushing for defender to join Tottenham

Chelsea are pushing for Axel Disasi to join Tottenham rather than Aston Villa, according to TBR Football.

The report (3 February) claims that the Blues would rather allow the French defender to join Spurs because they are not a rival for Champions League qualification.

The Lilywhites are in need of defensive reinforcements before the 11 pm deadline after completing a deal for Lens star Kevin Danso.

Former Monaco star Disasi has featured 17 times for the Stamford Bridge outfit in all competitions so far this season.

Tottenham face a race against time to sign defender

Ange Postecoglou still needs more cover for his backline at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium despite signing Danso.

Christian Romero is still out injured and Micky van de Ven has just returned to full fitness, another injury could put the Lilywhites in trouble.

The former Celtic man is desperate to drag his side out of a miserable run of form that has seen them fall to 14th place in the Premier League.

If Spurs get another defender in before the window shuts, it will be regarded as a successful window given the signings of Antonin Kinsky, Danso and Mathys Tel, which is due to be completed later.

In other Tottenham news, the club have made a late offer for a Burnley star and the Championship side have responded.
