Yves Bissouma has struggled for consistency since joining Tottenham from Brighton.

Bissouma hardly featured under Antonio Conte, who was not impressed with the midfielder’s understanding of his tactics.

Upon Ange Postecoglou’s arrival, the Mali international looked as though he had rediscovered his best form, but quickly slipped back into his inconsistent ways.

Whether Thomas Frank will be the man to help Bissouma find his true potential could go unanswered, as the 28-year-old has been linked with an exit this summer amid a summer of change in North London.

Tottenham sign Mathys Tel from Bayern Munich

Tottenham have not been shy about making several changes this summer in preparation for next season.

The biggest change was sacking Postecoglou and replacing the Australian with Frank. The delay over this decision meant Spurs’ summer transfer window got off to a slow start.

However, it appears as though the Lilywhites are finally ready to kick on.

Tottenham announced on Sunday (15 June) the permanent signing of Mathys Tel from Bayern Munich on a contract that will run until 2031.

Tel spent the second half of the season on loan with Tottenham, making 20 appearances in all competitions, and the Frenchman appears to have made an impression on Bissouma, who liked Spurs’ post announcing the signing of Tel on Instagram.

Bissouma will need to prove himself to Frank

Frank appears to be reluctant to rely on Bissouma as Tottenham are linked with several midfielders.

One of these midfielders is Hayden Hackney, who is known for his expertise during the build-up phase.

It has also been suggested that Frank could deploy Archie Gray in midfield as the Dane is a long-time admirer of the 19-year-old. This would force Bissouma into a rotational option once again, which he may struggle to accept.

Therefore, the defensive midfielder will need to prove to Frank that he can depend on him for the future.
