Why Tottenham loanee Mikey Moore had to watch Rangers v Dundee in the stands
Mikey Moore is yet to feature for Rangers since signing on loan from Tottenham.
The 17-year-old is one of the brightest prospects to come out of the Spurs academy for many years and is in need of regular senior minutes.
This has seen Thomas Frank and Co. green-light a temporary switch to the Scottish Premiership to play for the Light Blues.
With that being said, despite two games having passed since signing for the Gers, Moore is yet to make his debut. Here’s why.
Moore yet to play for Rangers on loan
There was no shortage of excitement from Ibrox when the signing of the teenage sensation was finally confirmed.
Some reservations came as some sections of the Govan fanbase believed they should be prioritising their own young talent as opposed to Tottenham’s.
Regardless of this, Russell Martin has welcomed the Englishman in as the Lilywhites continue to utilise the loan market to excellent effect.
As positive as a move to Rangers could prove to be for Moore, it is frustrating to see that he is yet to make an appearance in blue.
The winger has watched on as the Gers picked up a win against Viktoria Plzen before falling to a 1-1 draw against Dundee on Saturday (9 August).
Now, PA Sports reporter George Sessions has revealed that the youngster is still awaiting international clearance to feature for the Scottish giants.
Moore remains patient but is likely to once again miss out for the reverse leg against Plzen, before potentially being in line to make his debut against Alloa Athletic on 16 August.
Tottenham need Moore to gain clearance
Already, the agreement of this loan deal appears to have been a mistake at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
To allow an elite young talent without the necessary clearance to actually play for his new club is a sizable oversight by both parties.
Given how successful the likes of Josh Keeley, Jamie Donley and Ashley Phillips were out on loan last campaign, the winger will have been hopeful of a positive spell up north.
Stat | Jamie Donley |
Appearances | 52 |
Goals | 8 |
Assists | 11 |
As it stands, that hasn’t been the case, and Moore has now missed out on pre-season minutes with Spurs to instead watch Rangers from the stands.
