Tottenham worried about new transfer developments at Manchester City

Tottenham are concerned after Manchester City entered the race for Abdukodir Khusanov, according to TBR Football.

The report from 5 January claims that Pep Guardiola’s side and Chelsea are set to rival Spurs for the 20-year-old Lens defender’s signature.

It also states that the Lilywhites face competition from Arsenal, Brighton and Newcastle for the services of the Uzbekistan international.

The report claims that the French club is understood to be willing to sell in January and could demand a £25million fee.

Tottenham need defensive signings

Ange Postecoglou is desperate for defensive recruits in the January transfer window as his side struggle with an injury crisis.

The likes of Micky van de Ven, Cristian Romero, Ben Davies and Destiny Udogie are out of action for the foreseeable future.

The Australian has been forced to rely on a centre-back partnership of Radu Dragusin and Archie Gray, which has led to Spurs winning just two of their last 11 matches.

That has led to severe pressure on the former Celtic manager but Daniel Levy is willing to back him in the transfer market, with Spurs already signing a goalkeeper to replace the injured Guglielmo Vicario.

The spending is set to continue with Football London (30 December) reporting that the Lilywhites are also targeting a centre-back, a left-back, a midfielder and an attacker in January.

Backing the Australian is the right move as chopping and changing managers constantly is not the way to go and takes the club back to square one.
