Tottenham transfers: Levy can sign ‘world class’ star for Postecoglou for free

Tottenham Hotspur could hand themselves a massive unexpected boost if Daniel Levy allows Ange Postecoglou to sign Dani Olmo in January.

As reported by Mundo Deportivo (31 December), Spurs have enquired to Barcelona about the potential of a free transfer for the Spanish international, with Barca suffering issues registering him to play.

Renowned coach Harry Brooks posted on X (1 January) lauding Olmo as “world class”, claiming the attacking midfielder can “make football fit to him”.

With Spurs seeking a way to take advantage of Barca’s mess having been a fan of Olmo for some time, Brooks said: “Out of any potential player available on the market, for any club, Olmo is the best player.

“World class in how he receives the ball, plays between the lines, decision making, pictures he sees, creates and exploits and technical quality.

“One of those players that makes football fit to him, rather than the other way around.”

Tottenham could pull off masterstroke with Dani Olmo deal

If Tottenham want Dani Olmo enough, Levy has to sanction a deal quickly. Rarely does an opportunity such as this present itself, and the Lilywhites clearly need to take January action to realign their season.

It is an extremely peculiar situation, but one fitting of a club like Barca who for all their domestic success on the pitch, have operated chaotically off it for many years.

Olmo is a product of the globally renowned ‘La Masia’ youth academy, the same which developed the likes of Lionel Messi, Andres Iniesta and Xavi, and more recently teenage sensation Lamine Yamal.

Having returned last summer to the Camp Nou from RB Leipzig after winning Euro 2024, signing a six-year contract, the 26-year-old is now available to leave for nothing having scored five goals in 11 La Liga games.

Decorated European clubs will undoubtedly be lining up at the playmaker’s door, and Tottenham must act fast and show they can not only build a team around Olmo, but assure him that any financial package would be one of the most lucrative a Spurs signing has ever received.

In other Tottenham news, Spurs have reportedly been offered the chance to sign this former Chelsea defender.
