Tottenham transfer news: Inter Milan update as Albert Gudmundsson agreement weeks away
Tottenham are set to face competition in order to sign Genoa striker Albert Gudmundsson as Inter Milan are showing interest, according to CaughtOffside.
A striker appears to be on the priority list for Spurs as they look towards the summer transfer window at the end of the season.
With Harry Kane departing in the summer and Timo Werner not yet hitting the ground, a new option could be necessary.
Links to Gudmundsson had come up but now there may be a bump in the road to secure his signature for next season.
It is reported that the Italians are not far away from finalising an agreement in principle for the 26-year-old, something which could be done in weeks.
Should Tottenham sign Albert Gudmundsson?
It is clear that Tottenham are facing stern competition from the Serie A leaders for the signing of the Iceland international.
The 26-year-old can play as a number nine but is also comfortable operating as a number 10 behind the striker for Genoa.
His versatility has seen him register 11 goals and three assists in the league this season [FotMob]. These performances have only been able to see his side sit 12th.
This would point towards a move to the Premier League and potential Champions League football with Spurs or Inter.
According to Fbref, he ranks in the top one per cent of all forwards in Europe’s top five leagues for shot-creating actions with 4.75 per 90.

Add to this 3.73 progressive passes and 2.39 progressive carries per game, he is someone who can drive his team forward.
With Werner’s loan ending and Richarlison struggling with injury, signing Gudmundsson could be a very useful squad option.
