Tottenham told to sell Son in brutal new one-word verdict
Son Heung-min’s time at Tottenham Hotspur could well be coming to an end after 10 stellar seasons in North London.
The South Korean became Spurs’ captain at the start of last season and when fit has been a mainstay in the team under Ange Postecoglou, but few Tottenham fans have failed to notice a decline in his output.
Son has scored six goals and registered nine assists for Tottenham in the Premier League this season, but the former tally is a far cry from all-but one of his previous seasons in which he’s hit double figures.
With Son now 32 years old and 10 seasons into his Spurs career, this downturn in form has resulted in speculation that he could leave Tottenham this summer, with clubs in the Middle East rearing their heads.

Jamie O’Hara tells Tottenham to sell Son Heung-min
Son has undoubtedly been one of the Lilywhites’ best players of the Premier League era and would be in the frontline of most fans’ all-time elevens, but it could well be time for Tottenham to move him on.
Jamie O’Hara certainly thinks so, and in a video shared on X by ESPN UK (7 March), he was asked whether he’d keep or sell each member of the Tottenham squad, with 11 falling into the “sell” category.
Asked about Son, O’Hara hesitated for a while before brutally saying: “Sell”.
Son exit looks inevitable at Tottenham this summer
Son may have been the first player O’Hara said to sell, but he wasn’t the last, with Richarlison, Timo Werner, Wilson Odobert and Mathys Tel alone joining him in the list of forwards who may leave the club.
Pape Sarr, Yves Bissouma, Rodrigo Bentancur, Radu Dragusin, Ben Davies and Fraser Forster were also deemed surplus to requirements in other positions, suggesting a significant rebuild is on the cards.
Keep | Position | Sell |
Guglielmo Vicario, Antonin Kinsky | Goalkeepers | Fraser Forster |
Pedro Porro, Djed Spence, Destiny Udogie, Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, Kevin Danso | Defenders | Radu Dragusin, Ben Davies |
James Maddison, Dejan Kulusevski, Archie Gray, Lucas Bergvall | Midfielders | Pape Sarr, Yves Bissouma, Rodrigo Bentancur, |
Brennan Johnson, Dominic Solanke, Mikey Moore | Forwards | Son Heung-min, Timo Werner, Richarlison, Wilson Odobert, Mathys Tel |
Although Tottenham wouldn’t be bringing any money in by letting Werner and Tel leave – both of whom are on loan deals with options to buy – selling the other nine players would bring in significant income.
A potential replacement for Son with a very attainable release clause has already been identified by Tottenham, but with so many exits on the cards, it remains to be seen if those plentiful transfer fees will be invested wisely by Daniel Levy.
