Rodrygo to Tottenham off – Three statement signings Levy could make instead
Daniel Levy will need to look elsewhere now that Rodrygo is not expected to sign for Tottenham.
After being humiliated by the Morgan Gibbs-White saga, Levy needs to make a statement signing, and it appeared that Rodrygo was a potential option.
However, the Real Madrid superstar isn’t keen on the move.
As a result, Tottenham must now find an alternative. However, with several attractive options still a possibility this summer, missing out on Rodrygo might not be the worst thing for the Lilywhites.

Alejandro Garnacho – Manchester United
Alejandro Garnacho has fallen out of favour at Manchester United and his expected to leave Old Trafford this summer.
It is believed that the forward wants to remain in the Premier League, and Spurs are keeping a watchful eye on the situation [Daily Mail].
While the arrival of the Argentine would be an unexpected one, it could also be a welcome one.
Club | Season | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
Manchester United | 2024/25 | 58 | 11 | 10 |
Garnacho is a winger who likes to score goals. Meanwhile, Thomas Frank encourages his wingers to cut inside as opposed to hugging the touchline. As a result, Garnacho under the Dane could turn out to be a match made in heaven.

Xavi Simons – RB Leipzig
Xavi Simons has been linked with Tottenham.
While he is edging closer to signing for fellow London club Chelsea, nothing is signed yet. Now that Rodrygo is seemingly off the table, Tottenham could be encouraged to hijack the Dutchman’s move to Stamford Bridge.
The RB Leipzig star thrives when deployed in the midfield, but is also comfortable on the left flank. As such, Spurs would be getting two for the price of one if they sign Simons in the coming days.

Rafael Leao – AC Milan
The mere mention of signing Rafael Leao is enough to raise any sceptic’s eyebrows. However, there were murmurings at the beginning of the summer that he would be open to leaving AC Milan.
As a result, Tottenham could be tempted to pull off the seemingly impossible and bring the Portuguese forward to Hotspur Way.
The winger has struggled to consistently hit his best form in Italy. This is despite being considered one of the most talented wingers of his generation.
A new league, environment and manager could be the perfect way to bring out the best in him. Therefore, after six years at Milan, Leao could be ready for a new challenge this summer.
