Tottenham terminate centre-back’s deal as transfer clause triggered

Tottenham have had a largely quiet start to the January transfer window.

The Lilywhites have had a difficult campaign so far, with Thomas Frank edging closer to the sack at Tottenham after just months in charge.

The Dane is in need of a positive time in the winter market if he is to turn around, with Tottenham most strongly linked to Santos defender Souza so far.

Various stars have been linked away in recent months, with a Spurs exit potentially on the cards for Destiny Udogie as weeks remain in the window.

Potential departures haven’t stopped Frank and Co. from assessing options elsewhere, with a contract clause now triggered away from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Alfie Dorrington returns to Tottenham from Aberdeen

The North London outfit have plenty of young talent breaking through who look destined to make a dent on the first team.

Luca Williams-Barnett is arguably the best at Tottenham right now, although a true chance to shine under Frank is still in the pipeline.

There were once high hopes for Alfie Dorrington to thrive in the senior side, and he looked to improve his chances with a temporary switch to Aberdeen.

The 20-year-old spent the second half of last season at Pittodrie before returning there on loan in the summer, making a combined 30 appearances across those spells.

Aberdeen has now confirmed that Dorrington has returned to White Heart Lane after Tottenham activated their recall option on the defender.

The Dons have wished the centre-back well, with his spell in the Scottish Premiership coming to a premature end, with the Lilywhites to thank.

Who is Alfie Dorrington?

The Spurs fanbase may not be completely clued up on who the young defender is after just one senior appearance for the North London outfit.

The Enfield-born ace joined the Lilywhites in 2018, aged eight and has made his way all the way through the youth ranks to the first team.

Dorrington has gone on to play a role at Aberdeen over his two loan spells, being known for his keenness to get the ball on the floor and play passes.

There may be concerns over his aerial ability, but that is something that is bound to come with time after further senior football experience.

It will be interesting to see what Tottenham have in store for the Englishman after calling his Pittodrie stint short this winter.
