Tottenham striker reacts as Man United complete new signing

Tottenham are still yet to complete the signing of a second new player this summer.

Mohammed Kudus’ £55million arrival from West Ham had looked to kick off a surge in the market in North London, with a move for Morgan Gibbs-White primed to follow.

But the Nottingham Forest midfielder has now signed a new contract at The City Ground, forcing Spurs to move onto alternative targets.

Manchester United, who finished just two places above the Lilywhites last season, have been busy in comparison – signing both Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo in big-money moves.

Boast reacts to signing announcement

Tottenham have strengthened their arsenal of attacking talent considerably in recent seasons.

Luka Vuskovic was signed in 2023 from Hadjuk Split as a 16-year-old, and the defender has now returned to North London looking ready to make an impact.

Decisive action was also taken to capture the signing of exciting Swedish talent Lucas Bergvall, who arrived for £8.5m in 2024 and became a key member of Ange Postecoglou’s team last season.

This year, Tottenham have continued to act on their youth focus, signing 17-year-old striker Mason Melia from St Patrick’s Athletic and Ezekiel Adesina from Chelsea.

And last week, the signing of 16-year-old Oliver Boast was confirmed with the young forward joining the academy from Leeds United.

Boast scored nine goals in the Under-18 Premier League last season, and is expected to continue at that level for Spurs.

Several big Premier League clubs have attempted to follow Spurs’ model of signing young talents, including Manchester United.

The Red Devils confirmed the signing of Harley Emsden-James on Tuesday (29 July), after reportedly beating off plenty of competition, including Spurs, for the defender’s signature.

The 16-year-old took to Instagram to confirm the move, with England youth teammate Boast liking the post.

Spurs must continue youth drive

Tottenham’s investment in the future will have incredible long-term affects in two different ways.

In the case of players such as Bergvall, Thomas Frank will enjoy the benefit of an impactful player clearly ready to develop into a key man for the Dane.

But even should an alternative player not enjoy a rise similar to that of the Swede, Spurs are still sure to benefit financially, with the ever-inflating transfer market making for an ideal place to sell not-yet-fulfilled potential.
