Tottenham share brand-new Son Heung-min post amid exit speculation

Son Heung-min’s future at Tottenham has been one of the most gripping stories of the summer transfer window so far.

Son’s potential exit has left Spurs supporters conflicted.

Some don’t want to see a player who has spent almost a decade in North London leave, while others believe it is time for the South Korean to move on.

The 33-year-old’s performances have not helped matters. The Tottenham captain was involved in 23 goals last season, but his overall performances left plenty to be desired.

Thomas Frank will use pre-season to decide on his squad for next season.

The Dane has already welcomed several players into the fold, such as Mohammed Kudus, who signed from West Ham. Frank is also determined to give numerous Tottenham academy hopefuls a chance.

However, a post via Tottenham’s official Instagram on Monday (14 July) confirms that Son is back in training with a smile plastered across his face. As a result, the winger will likely hold talks with Frank over his future now that he is back in North London.

There has been much change at Spurs these past few weeks, but the departure of Son may turn out to be the biggest one yet.

Tottenham have time to get it right with Son

The possible departure of Son will likely include how much the Lilywhites could recoup following his sale. However, the Spurs skipper has paid his debt in more ways than one.

Indeed, the winger has remained committed to Tottenham over the years. While players came and went, he stayed and fought for Spurs’ first piece of silverware in 17 years.

Furthermore, Tottenham have profited from his shirt sales, image rights and South Korean fanbase over the years. This amounts to much more than the reported £22million he was purchased for.

As a result, Tottenham must get it right with Son, and that means allowing him to leave on his terms. Therefore, whether Saudi Arabia or another season in North London awaits, the club must back him.
