Tottenham ‘ready to sign’ Viktor Gyokeres as Sporting Lisbon stance shared

Tottenham are readying a bank-breaking bid to sign Viktor Gyokeres this summer.

Tottenham have endured a dismal campaign domestically, with much of that failure down to their lack of attacking threat throughout the season.

Dominic Solanke has failed to hit the heights he reached at Bournemouth, while the lack of a direct replacement has made it difficult for Spurs to pose much of an attacking threat.

Regardless of what happens this season, the need for attacking reinforcements this summer is as evident as ever, amid links to Gyokeres.

Sporting reluctant to let go of Gyokeres

Much of Tottenham’s transfer business will hinge on whether or not they can win the Europa League, which will, in turn, decide whether they will have European football next season.

Should that be achieved, then Spurs could have a chance of signing Gyokeres after the Swede was linked with a move to North London [Fichajes].

The report states that Tottenham are prepared to make a “significant investment” in the striker, though Sporting are said to have no intention of letting him go without a fight.

It is also said that Gyokeres is the “top priority” of Tottenham, and if they are able to secure a deal, it would significantly bolster their attacking lineup and go a long way towards rectifying some of the biggest concerns that have emerged this season.

Gyokeres would be one of many needed additions at Tottenham

It is now over 17 years since Tottenham last won a major trophy, and that wait will go on as long as Spurs fail to make the necessary additions in the transfer window.

Gyokeres’ addition would be a huge one, though it will take far more than him to get Spurs heading back in the right direction.

This summer will be a huge one for Tottenham, with Ange Postecoglou likely to face the sack and several other key decisions needed to be made.

All eyes will be on Daniel Levy in the next few weeks and months.
