Tottenham ready £60m+ Savinho bid as Lucas Paqueta twist emerges
Tottenham are not backing down in their pursuit of Savinho, but he’s not the only one tipped to arrive this summer.
Daniel Levy could come back with a vengeance after missing out on several key transfers.
Spurs believed Eberechi Eze would arrive at Hotspur Way this month. But their hopes were soon dashed when Arsenal hijacked Eze’s transfer.
This comes after Morgan Gibbs-White extended at Nottingham Forest despite agreeing personal terms with Tottenham.
But Levy is no quitter and is expected to fight until the end to strengthen his squad before 1 September.

Lucas Paqueta desires UEFA Champions League football
Tottenham have identified several alternatives now that Eze will not be arriving at Hotspur Way.
Lucas Paqueta has emerged as a viable option for Spurs in recent days. It has been suggested that West Ham could be more amenable to a sale after Mohammed Kudus arrived last month.
- Manchester City put around £70million on the table for Paqueta in 2023 which was rejected
- Paqueta will not face punishment for alleged breach of the Football Association’s betting rules, which first surfaced in 2023
Meanwhile, Tottenham are doing everything in their power to sign Savinho from Manchester City. The Citizens do not want to sell, but the Lilywhites are certain that the right price could lessen their resolve.
As reported by the print edition of The Mail on Sunday (Page 85, 24 August), Tottenham have held further talks with Man City over a proposed deal for Savinho. Spurs are prepared to offer more than £60m for Savinho, who is open to moving to North London.
Furthermore, it is understood that Tottenham are also showing interest in Paqueta in addition to Aston Villa. However, the Lilywhites have a major advantage over the Villans, as Paqueta is open to leaving for a UEFA Champions League club.
There is no doubt that Levy will feel vindicated in the summer window if he manages to get both transfers over the line.

Who is the better signing?
Tottenham wants to sign both Paqueta and Savinho this summer, but with just over a week until the window closes, the Lilywhites may need to settle for one.
In a surprising turn of events, Savinho may be the better option for Spurs this season.
According to FBref, the winger is in the 97th percentile for progressive passes recorded and the 92nd for successful take-ons. Whereas the midfielder is in the 83rd for progressive passes and 65th for take-ons.
Savinho | Statistic | Paqueta |
92nd percentile | Successful take-ons | 65th percentile |
96th percentile | Touches (opposition box) | 84th percentile |
97th percentile | Progressive passes recorded | 83rd percentile |
34th percentile | Tackles | 77th percentile |
21st percentile | Blocks | 35th percentile |
21st percentile | Clearances | 39th percentile |
3rd percentile | Aerials won | 89th percentile |
Defensively, there is a huge gap, with Paqueta fairing better in tackles and aerials won. But for an attacker and a midfielder, their clearances and blocks do not differ greatly.
With Tottenham needing further reinforcements on the left wing, Savinho may be the most important transfer to get over the line.
