Tottenham reach Eberechi Eze agreement as Crystal Palace ‘accelerating’ replacement
Eberechi Eze is set to make his long-awaited move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Tottenham reignited their interest in Eze after James Maddison sustained an ACL injury against Newcastle United during pre-season.
Since then, it has been a race against the clock to agree a deal with Crystal Palace for Eze. With Thomas Frank keen on his arrival, Daniel Levy has accelerated the transfer.
Spurs supporters can now breathe a sigh of relief as it seems Eze will be a Tottenham player this season.

Tottenham reach agreement with Crystal Palace for Eze
There was a moment where Eze to Tottenham seemed to be on the verge of collapse.
Oliver Glasner had issued a strong message before Palace took on Chelsea in the Premier League, which left fans uncertain.
But Eze seemed to have kicked his final ball for Palace as he was substituted against Chelsea. It now seems that there was no reason to fret as Spurs close in on their star man.
As reported by Ben Jacobs via X on Tuesday, 19 August, Tottenham have reached an agreement in principle with Crystal Palace for Eze.
The midfielder continues to train as normal as the Eagles hunt for a replacement. Though with the deal seemingly done and almost sealed, his move should be finalised once Palace wrap up a deal for Leicester City’s Bilal El Khannouss.
Fee agreed, with Palace now accelerating efforts to find a replacement.

When will Eze make his debut at Tottenham?
Spurs supporters will be keen to know when Eze will make his debut now that the Englishman looks certain to land at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
There is every reason to suggest that it could come at the Etihad when Tottenham take on Manchester City. Frank will be on the hunt for all three points after a comfortable win for Spurs against Burnley last week.
Eze’s introduction to the lineup will most likely result in the demotion of one current Spurs midfielder. One of Joao Palhinha and Rodrigo Bentancur looks to be the likelier option.
Both stunned against PSG in the UEFA Super Cup final. The double pivot seemed to provide an added layer of defensive security to the team.
Palhinha | Defensive statistic | Bentancur |
2/4 | Tackles won | 3/3 |
– | Clearances | 4 |
– | Headed clearance | 2 |
2 | Recoveries | 2 |
2 | Dribbled past | 1 |
But with Pape Matar Sarr impressing Frank during pre-season, likely, he falls back into a deeper role to make room for Eze. With Bentancur’s contract at Tottenham expiring in 2026 and him yet to sign an extension, he could be on the verge of an exit.
While all this remains to be seen, the Premier League will be keen to see what lineup Frank decides to field.
