Tottenham player who impressed Thomas Frank weeks ago now on verge of Crystal Palace move

Daniel Levy is determined to arrange a couple more departures for Tottenham before the window closes.

Thomas Frank has had a mixed start since Tottenham appointed him head coach.

The Dane started the Premier League strong as Tottenham crushed Burnley and Manchester City in back-to-back victories. However, the cracks began to show as Bournemouth dominated Frank’s Tottenham at home.

The sheer size of his squad seemed to have become a concern for the Dane, particularly where the UEFA Champions League squad is concerned. But it appears he’ll now have one less thing to worry about.

Crystal Palace finalising Manor Solomon deal

As reported by Sacha Tavolieri via X on 14 June, Frank was impressed with Manor Solomon to the point of integrating him into Spurs’ pre-season.

But his hopes of checking the winger out were soon hampered by injury, with the 25-year-old sidelined for several weeks.

Solomon was named on the bench during Tottenham’s embarrassing defeat to Bournemouth. But it now seems that he is far closer to leaving than remaining in North London.

According to Sky Sports on Monday, 1 September, Crystal Palace are looking to finalise Solomon’s loan from Tottenham.

The winger has turned down many opportunities this summer. This includes Leeds United, for whom Tottenham loaned Solomon last season. With the clock ticking down, this will be one transfer Levy will be hoping to get over the line.

Do Tottenham need another winger?

While Xavi Simons has already arrived at Tottenham and Randal Kolo Muani looks on the verge of following, there are concerns that Spurs need another winger.

This comes after Son Heung-min departed Spurs after almost a decade in North London. Simons and Kolo Muani can both play on the left wing, but they’re stronger in other positions.

However, it will not be the end of the world if a left-winger does not arrive. Wilson Odobert shone on the left for Tottenham during pre-season, while Johnson already has two goals playing there this season.

Frank can also line up with two attackers up front. This is not dissimilar to the partnership Richarlison and Mohammed Kudus formed against PSG.

As a result, with an excellent tactician as a coach and several players who fit the bill, not signing a left winger should not condemn the Lilywhites this season.
