Tottenham new signing: ‘Desperate’ Rayan Cherki transfer offer made
Tottenham have been offered a chance to sign Rayan Cherki from Olympique Lyon in the winter transfer window, according to GiveMeSport.
The news outlet reports (17 January) that the Ligue 1 outfit are “desperate” to raise funds as they look to cash in on the 21-year-old playmaker.
Spurs want to bolster their attack with more creativity and depth, with intermediaries offering the France Under-21 international’s services to the North Londoners.
Tottenham to get gem with Rayan Cherki transfer
It remains to be seen whether the Lilywhites will pursue Cherki’s signing, but they’ll get a quality player if they can sign him.
The 21-year-old is a highly regarded prospect in France, establishing himself as a key player at Lyon over the last few years.
In the current campaign, the attacker has scored five goals and provided eight assists in 21 appearances for Les Gones in all competitions.
Cherki can play in multiple positions, and his versatility could be useful for Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham.
The 21-year-old has been deployed on the right wing a lot this season but can also play on the left-hand side of the attack, as a number 10 or even in a deeper midfield role.

Spurs need to find a successor to Son Heung-min, with the South Korean veteran in the later stages of his career.
The 32-year-old has been a loyal servant at the North London outfit but is evidently past his prime years, which means a change is necessary.
James Maddison could be someone the Tottenham faithful would expect to step up to the plate, although that hasn’t been the case over the last few months.
Cherki would undoubtedly be an exciting addition to an already young squad that Postecoglou has assembled at N17.
