Tottenham medical booked as ‘incredible twist’ revealed, he’s en route to London
Mathys Tel is set to undergo his medical with Tottenham on Deadline Day, according to Florian Plettenberg.
Plettenberg first reported via X on Monday (3 February) that Tel was now set to join Spurs after having a change of heart over the move.
Tottenham and Bayern Munich had agreed a deal in principle over a £50million transfer for the 19-year-old [via Le Parisien, 30 January], but after face-to-face talks with Daniel Levy, Tel decided not to join the club [via Fabrizio Romano, 31 January].
However, in a Deadline Day U-turn, Plettenberg wrote via X (3 February), “Incredible twist. [Mathys] Tel will undergo his medical with Tottenham today. It is expected to be a loan without an option to buy. Final details pending. He’s on his way to London.”
Bayern Munich forward Mathys Tel to join Tottenham?
It seems as though it is just a matter of hours before Tel is announced as a Tottenham player. However, whether or not there will be an option to buy still appears to be up in the air.
Some supporters might not be that thrilled about the player joining the club on a straight loan, especially after rejecting a permanent move. However, if an option to buy could be included, that could yet change.
What is most important is that it seems Tel will be available for Spurs ahead of some crucial matches, with Ange Postecoglou in desperate need of players.
Therefore, for now, it looks as though this is a positive move, which could yet become more positive.
