Tottenham make serious approaches to sign £29m+ Ligue 1 star
Daniel Levy has made a head start on Tottenham’s summer transfer window on the back of a dismal season.
Recent results in the Premier League have shown that the squad lacks the level of depth required to simultaneously challenge on multiple fronts.
Fingers may be pointed at Ange Postecoglou’s handling of the squad and inability to maximise their potential; however, the squad’s fragility transcends any manager’s influence.
With the potential added strain of Champions League football next season, Levy will know that multiple high-quality additions will be necessary.

Spurs face competition from Barcelona for Monaco star Vanderson
Tottenham pulled off a coup in beating Barcelona to the signing of Lucas Bergvall last summer, and will have to face competition from the Spanish side once more if they are to land their latest target.
As reported by Brazilian media outlet UOL, both clubs are vying for the signature of Monaco’s highly rated right-back Vanderson.
The North London club have opened negotiations with the French club, who are expected to hold out for a fee of close around £29million.
Spurs Player | Minutes played | Appearances |
Pedro Porro | 3,950 | 49 |
Dejan Kulusevski | 3,450 | 50 |
Dominic Solanke | 3,221 | 42 |
Brennan Johnson | 3,145 | 48 |
Heung-Min Son | 3,093 | 44 |
Archie Gray | 3,063 | 43 |
The Brazilian international’s acquisition would bring cover for Pedro Porro, who has played the most minutes for Spurs this season.
At the age of 23, Vanderson fits the age profile Spurs tend to sign, but crucially, would bring Champions League experience.

Djed Spence’s future in doubt again
Vanderson’s arrival is unlikely to usurp Porro from his spot in the side, but it could spell trouble for the recently faltering Djed Spence.
The unlikely revival of the former England Under-21 international was one of the few positives in Tottenham’s season as he emerged from the abyss with a string of excellent performances earlier in the year.
It may have proved to be a false dawn as performances have steadily dipped since Destiny Udogie‘s return from injury.
With Levy already planning a big-money move for another fullback, it could spell the end of Spence’s turbulent time in North London.
