Tottenham learn Micky van de Ven transfer preference as multiple European giants ready

Tottenham are braced for interest in Micky van de Ven ahead of the summer transfer window.

Discontent is growing in N17, with Thomas Frank’s future uncertain at Spurs after a damaging 2-0 loss to Manchester United on Saturday.

Multiple players are said to be unhappy under the Dane, with Cristian Romero’s emotional actions on social media a clear and recent example of that.

Van de Ven is a key player for Tottenham, and though his potential sale would rake in heavy financial benefits, it’s not welcomed by supporters.

Micky van de Ven wants to stay in the Premier League with Liverpool lurking

Barcelona and Real Madrid are both keen on signing van de Ven, who has been a standout performer under Frank this season.

The Dutchman already has a career best seven goals this season, and is proving to be a real threat from set-pieces.

According to TEAMtalk on Sunday, Vincent Kompany is also a big fan of van de Ven and would like to bring him to Bayern Munich in the summer.

However, the centre-half’s preference is to stay in the Premier League and has “no desire” to make the switch to Germany.

But Liverpool are also said to be interested in signing him, which may narrow it down to the Reds or him staying with Spurs for next season.

Possible van de Ven sale poses bigger question at Tottenham

Tottenham are sliding backwards, and the current situation would have been hard to imagine after that night in Bilbao last year.

The Lilywhites had a chance to make a statement in the winter window, but the arrival of Conor Gallagher wasn’t really what was needed to get Spurs fans back onside.

The problem right now, apart from Frank, is that Tottenham lack quality in various departments. So that brings up the question – is van de Ven’s sale needed?

A possible £100million sale could change the trajectory of Spurs, but what fans want to see is the centre-back at the heart of a push for success.

But the harsh reality is that van de Ven is far too good to be playing for Tottenham right now, and he would have every right to seek an exit in a couple of months.
