Time running out for Tottenham to secure deal

By defeating Manchester United in the Europa League final, Tottenham are now in a strong position in the transfer market.

Several high-profile names have been linked with a move to North London, including Bayern Munich’s Leroy Sane.

Indeed, the Lilywhites are pursuing players from across Europe, with Real Betis’ Johnny Cardoso a player under consideration.

Spurs have had the opportunity to sign the midfielder since the start of June, but are yet to approach.

Tottenham have until the end of the month to reach an agreement with Cardoso and Betis, according to Diario de Sevilla (4 June).

However, they state that their sources claim that the North London club have no intention of doing so, with a move to Atletico Madrid on the cards instead.

Spurs must invest in central-midfield upgrade

Central-midfield must be a priority area for Tottenham this summer, if they are to challenge on all fronts next season.

The Lilywhites will be playing a high volume of games and of an increased standard, meaning they need numbers as well as quality.

Spurs already possess Rodrigo Bentancur, Yves Bissouma, and Pape Matar Sarr in the hub of midfield, but they have endured mixed seasons.

At 23, Cardoso is a player with potential and has European experience, having played in the Europa Conference League final.

Whether or not they move for Cardoso, Levy must bring in a midfielder to challenge the current crop.
