Tottenham fans will be fuming at Daniel Levy’s latest decision after Son Heung-min exit
Son Heung-min finalised his Tottenham exit to join MLS side Los Angeles FC.
The deal was announced by the American club on 6 August, ending the South Korean’s 10-year stay in North London.
He will occupy an international roster slot at LAFC and will be eligible to play once he receives his P-1 Visa and International Transfer Certificate (ITC).

Tottenham will not be looking to replace Son which may infuriate fans
The 33-year-old’s departure will undoubtedly leave a big void for Tottenham on and off the pitch.
The South Korean made over 300 Premier League appearances for the Lilywhites and played a key role under multiple managers.
Son was even adored by the Tottenham fans and they’re certainly going to miss watching him week in and week out.
Appearances | Goals | Assists |
454 | 173 | 101 |
Despite him being a first-team regular, given the depth Spurs have down the left flank, they’re not expected to sign a replacement.
This decision by the hierarchy may annoy the fanbase given how important a role Son has played over the years.
Daniel Levy, who is already public enemy number one, is doing himself no favours with this move.
Football London journalist Alasdair Gold said on the Gold & Guest Talk at 20:04: “I think if someone else were to leave (after Son), then probably they look to get a replacement there.
“But I think right now you could play on that left-hand side, Odobert, Tel, Richarlison, Johnson, Kudus can play there as well.
“We’re going to talk about young players and blocking their paths and stuff like that.”
Thomas Frank still needs to be backed this summer
Tottenham appear splashing out on a direct replacement for Son, as their squad already boasts versatile attacking options who can cover the left wing and maintain goal-scoring output.
Son, at 33, remains effective and his role can be managed with existing depth.
Instead, under Thomas Frank, Spurs must prioritise strengthening their defence and midfield to secure Champions League qualification and compete for domestic trophies.
A top-tier defender would address defensive frailties exposed last season.
Additionally, a dynamic central midfielder could enhance control and creativity, complementing Frank’s 4-2-3-1 setup.
Investing in these areas, rather than an expensive Son replacement, maximises squad balance and gives Frank the tools to challenge for top-four and silverware in 2025/26.
It remains to be seen how many new players the board ends up signing for Frank, as he most certainly needs to be backed.
