Tottenham experts jet out to Holland in Igor Paixao transfer move
Feyenoord winger Igor Paixao is attracting transfer interest from Tottenham Hotspur and several other clubs across Europe.
Tottenham are expected to be one of the Premier League’s busier teams in the upcoming summer transfer window, after a campaign which certainly hasn’t gone to plan for Ange Postecoglou’s side.
Spurs sit 14th in the table heading into their last nine matches of the season, and while they’re still alive in the Europa League with a quarter-final to come, they also exited the FA Cup well ahead of schedule.
Postecoglou’s future is under scrutiny heading into a crucial summer in North London, but so too is the make-up of Tottenham’s squad, with some pundits advocating double figures in terms of departures.

Igor Paixao watched by Tottenham scouts as transfer race hots up
Tottenham’s summer of rebuilding is set to see several Lilywhites mainstays such as Son Heung-min potentially head for pastures new, facilitating the addition of fresh faces in the wide attacking positions.
A potential target for Spurs is Feyenoord winger Igor Paixao, and the Sunday Mirror have reported in their print edition (23 March, page 77) that Tottenham scouts have already been sent to watch the Brazilian.
Player | Appearances | Starts | Goals | Assists |
Igor Paixao | 38 | 37 | 11 | 15 |
Paixao, however, has also been watched by Bournemouth, Newcastle and Nottingham Forest scouts, with Napoli also preparing to be a “serious threat” to the Premier League quartet in the race to sign him.

Tottenham to pay the price in Igor Paixao transfer pursuit
Paixao’s exploits for Feyenoord in the Champions League – including running Kyle Walker ragged against Milan – have understandably attracted the attention of several clubs, leaving Spurs at a disadvantage.
Of the clubs Tottenham look set to compete with for the 24-year-old’s signature, all four have had much better campaigns, and are all firmly in the running to qualify for European competition next season.
With Forest, Newcastle and Bournemouth respectively sitting third, sixth and tenth in the Premier League table, the trio are much better placed than Tottenham despite Postecoglou’s side still being in Europe.
Napoli are also going toe-to-toe with Inter for the Serie A title, making them a more attractive proposition for Paixao also, and it remains to be seen if Tottenham still have the pulling power they once possessed.
