Tottenham decide on Solomon exit after Leeds United approach

Tottenham fans haven’t had much confirmed news to get excited about since the transfer window opened on 1 June.

The North London club have sealed the permanent signing of Kevin Danso, but all other news has been limited to rumours.

That’s likely due to the uncertainty surrounding manager Ange Postecoglou. Until the Tottenham board decide whether to stick or twist with their manager, it wouldn’t make sense to splash the cash on more expensive new signings.

However, it does appear that a concrete decision has been made on the future of Manor Solomon.

Tottenham intend to keep Solomon

Solomon spent this past season on loan at Leeds United, contributing with ten goals in 40 appearances.

The Israeli winger was a regular starter in a Leeds team that won the Championship, and the Elland Road side have enquired about signing him permanently. Other Premier League clubs have shown interest in signing him too.

However, a report in The Sun’s print edition (6 June) suggests that Solomon will be kept at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium next season, despite Leeds United being desperate to sign him permanently.

The Lilywhites will be fighting for success on multiple fronts, having qualified for the Champions League, so the 25-year-old will be expected to fight for a place in the team.

Solomon should be given another chance to prove himself

Solomon has barely been given an opportunity to shine in a Spurs shirt.

The Israel international was handed five Premier League appearances for Tottenham before being shipped out on loan to Leeds.

However, Solomon has enjoyed a more successful season than most of Tottenham’s wingers. He earned himself a Championship winner’s medal, while his parent club stunk up the Premier League and finished in 17th place.

So, it makes sense for Spurs to keep Solomon on their books for now. Yes, they have been linked with international wingers like Leroy Sane and Jack Grealish, but no official bids have been made.

There’s every chance that Daniel Levy could be appointing a new manager shortly, perhaps one who fancies Solomon and can get the best out of him.

In all honesty, that’s probably what the former Shakhtar Donetsk winger is hoping will happen.
