Tottenham could go down Harry Kane route as Millwall transfer update emerges

Tottenham have been trying to find a suitable replacement for Harry Kane since he left in 2023.

Spurs fans have since had to put up with Richarlison’s mediocrity and Dominic Solanke, who has showed promise but has struggled through injury.

A huge part of Kane’s development in North London was down to the experiences he gained out on loan, and the Lilywhites could now look to replicate that.

Thomas Frank has been looking to add to his attack this summer, with the signing of Mohammed Kudus, but Spurs could look for a short-term solution, with the perfect prodigy already in the Tottenham ranks.

Alfie Devine linked with loan move to Millwall

Tottenham were forced to make good use of their youth last season after being hit with plenty of injuries.

Spurs have an excellent record of producing homegrown talent, and Mikey Moore could be next after making appearances from the bench for the Lilywhites last campaign.

While Moore could be part of the first team next season, his teammate Alfie Devine could be set for an important loan move.

According to The Mirror (24 July), Tottenham midfielder Devine is a target for Millwall as they pursue more additions ahead of the new season.

The 20-year-old attacking midfielder spent time on loan in Belgium with Westerlo last season and could look to replicate Kane’s path into the first team.

Kane spent the second half of the 2011/12 season on loan with the Lions, where he scored seven and assisted two in a successful stint in the Championship.

The Tottenham legend was 18 at the time and had two more loan spells with Norwich and Leicester before breaking into the Spurs first team.

Time is running out for Devine to stake his claim for a place in the Spurs squad, but should he have a successful loan spell, he could catch Frank’s eye.

Though youngsters can often be highly rated, it can be difficult for them to find that extra level that helps them compete at the highest level.

For Devine, it feels like it’s now or never for him to show that he is capable of reaching such feats.

Under a manager who is so impressive at developing young talent in Frank, next season could finally be the one for the forward.
