Tottenham could confirm Eberechi Eze transfer in next 48 hours as ‘deal within reach
Eberechi Eze could light up the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in a matter of days as Tottenham close in on a deal.
Tottenham have ramped up their approach in the window in August. Joao Palhinha was signed from Bayern Munich on loan and has quickly settled into life in North London.
Meanwhile, Mohammad Kudus has already been hailed as Spurs’ best player since completing this signing from West Ham last month.
But the Lilywhites have been keen to add Eze to the mix and could be hours from getting the deal over the line.

Tottenham to ‘accelerate move’ to sign Eze within 48 hours
Tottenham returned to the charge for Eze after James Maddison sustained an ACL injury during pre-season.
- Maddison was taken off on a stretcher against Newcastle United during pre-season
- He will be out for at least six months
- Eze has emerged as Spurs’ prime candidate to replace the former Leicester City player
As reported by Sami Mokbel via X on Saturday 16 August, Tottenham are set to accelerate their move to sign Eze within the next 48 hours. Positive developments and the deal are within reach but there is still work to be done.
- Eze’s inclusion in Palace’s squad to face Chelsea Sunday, 17 August is in doubt
While Eze’s reported £68million Crystal Palace release clause expired on 15 August, Spurs are still hoping to strike a deal for a similar fee.
How could Eze fit into Tottenham?
Eze plays best behind a striker – but is he the number 10 that Tottenham needs next season?
The Englishman netted 14 goals and provided 11 assists for Palace last season. One of those goals was the difference for his side against Manchester City in the FA Cup final last season.
Eze is a player who is going to create chances from almost everywhere in the final third. His dribbling allows him to glide past defenders without much effort, which his quick feet enable him to create goal-scoring opportunities.
Against Bayern Munich, Frank placed Pape Matar Sarr in the James Maddison role. It was a brave decision, but an experiment deemed unsuccessful.
However, this indicates that the Dane favours someone in that number 10 position. As such, there is no doubt that Eze will slot into a midfield with Sarr and Rodrigo Bentancur.
