Tottenham centre-back sends ‘special’ goodbye message, teammate wants ‘one more year’
Tottenham’s preparations for the 2025/26 Premier League and Champions League seasons are no doubt underway.
Ange Postecoglou’s future remains a huge talking point at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, while there’s also major speculation swirling around Spurs players like Cristian Romero and Richarlison.
Romero, 27, was vital in helping Tottenham win the Europa League title this season but there’s an emerging likelihood that he’ll join fellow Argentine Diego Simeone at Atletico Madrid in the summer transfer window.

Tottenham loan star Alfie Dorrington says goodbye to Aberdeen
It remains to be seen who might be replacing Romero once he leaves Spurs but Postecoglou – if he’s in charge next season – will have some options outside of his first-team squad.
Alfie Dorrington had an incredible half-season loan at Aberdeen.
The 20-year-old centre-back joined the Dons in the winter transfer window and went on to make 16 appearances for them in all competitions, scoring one goal in the process.
He also played a huge role in Aberdeen shocking Scottish football by beating Celtic in the Scottish Cup final at Hampden Park at the weekend.
However, Dorrington’s loan spell at Pittodrie is now over and he’s taken to Instagram to say goodbye to the Scottish Premiership side.
“Thank you to the gaffer, staff, players and the fans for putting your trust in me and welcoming me from Day 1,” he said on 28 May.
“I’ve had experiences that I’ll never forget and I am truly grateful for everything.
“This club will always have a special place in my heart. Stand Free.”

Aberdeen beg for Dorrington to stay at Pittodrie
Understandably, Aberdeen fans and players want Dorrington to sign another loan deal at the club.
Dons star Shayden Morris replied to the Tottenham youngster’s post, saying: “One more year.”
One supporter has asked if the defender will be “back next year for the European adventure” with Aberdeen qualifying for the Europa League with their Hampden victory over league winners Celtic.
Dominic Solanke also responded to the post by liking it.
Dorrington’s future is likely to be a topic of discussion this summer.
Does half a season in the Scottish Premiership warrant a spot in the first-team squad of a Premier League and Champions League club?
No matter how well he did north of the border, it’s likely that the answer to that question is ‘no’.
Another loan spell away from Hotspur Way will do Dorrington good.
There’s no doubt that clubs in the Championship will be having a look at him because he’s clearly outgrown the Under-21s now and should be looking to continue plying his trade in men’s football.
