‘Tottenham already have Richarlison replacement’ as striker signs contract

Richarlison’s underwhelming three-year stay with Tottenham looks likely to come to an end.

The Brazilian has struggled to perform consistently since joining Tottenham from Everton in 2022.

It was believed that Richarlison could maximise his form under another coach, but the striker does not appear to have a future under Thomas Frank.

And Tottenham appear to already have a replacement lined up after one striker put pen to paper on a contract at Hotspur Way.

Ellis Lehane signs his first professional contract with Tottenham

Tottenham have been eager to continue their strategy of developing young talents this summer.

With this in mind, the Lilywhites announced on Thursday (19 June) that Ellis Lehane has signed his first professional contract with Tottenham.

The 18-year-old netted 15 goals in all competitions for Spurs’ Under-18s last season, while he also made three appearances for the Under-21s.

The decision to give Lehane a contract could indicate that Tottenham are ready to promote him to the first team soon. Frank was known to develop young players while with Brentford and will likely continue this approach in North London.

Furthermore, Tottenham have not made any serious moves to sign a new striker this summer, despite Richarlison being heavily linked with an exit, which suggests they could be willing to trust Lehane to step up.

Therefore, if Richarlison was not considering his future already, this is bound to give him something to think about.

Richarlison should leave Tottenham this summer

Whether Lehane is an option to replace Richarlison or not, Tottenham need to sell the out-of-favour forward this summer.

Richarlison has struggled to remain fit since signing for Tottenham, which has caused him to miss several important fixtures. With the club desperate to go far in the UEFA Champions League next season, Frank will need players he can depend on.

Furthermore, the 28-year-old being injury-prone is not the only issue. Rodrigo Bentancur has struggled with countless injuries these past few seasons, but has performed when on the pitch.

Meanwhile, Richarlison had just seven goal contributions in 24 appearances last season, which is unacceptable when playing for a club as big as Tottenham.
