Tottenham agree new fee to finalise Souza transfer as Destiny Udogie latest drops
Tottenham are finally closing in on the signing of Souza.
Tottenham have pushed heavily to sign Santos left-back Souza, and two weeks into the January window, they appear to have got their man.
After having an initial bid rejected by the Brazilians, Souza refused to play in a game scheduled for Saturday, and it appears to have done the trick.
According to the Sun in its print edition on 10 January, Tottenham have had a £13million bid accepted.
What does that mean for Destiny Udogie?
Many believe that Udogie could have been finished at Tottenham.
After a sensational first season for the Italian in North London, injuries, form and other options have left him far from a guaranteed pick under Thomas Frank.
Despite this, it is said that Souza will arrive as direct competition for Udogie, with good depth needed across the squad for several competitions.

The horror season of injuries under Ange Postecoglou shows how badly depth is needed, just ask Archie Gray, who was forced to nearly play in all 11 posititons in 2024/25.
What has Neymar said about Santos?
While Souza prepares to leave the Brazilian giants, Neymar is sticking around.
The former Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain star has signed a new contract until the end of 2026, as he continues to battle his well-publicised injury issues.
Speaking via Reuters after the contract, Neymar said: “Santos is my place, I’m at home. It’s with you that I want to achieve the dreams that are still missing.”
With a spot at the 2026 World Cup on his mind with Brazil, Carlo Ancelotti will be watching closely.
It appears that Ancelotti has already been watching Santos, with Souza said to be on his radar ahead of the World Cup, something that a move to Tottenham could help.
With Udogie consistently injured and Djed Spence likely moving across to the right, a door could be open for the young Brazilian to feature regularly in North London.
Souza will hopefully kickstart a very busy winter window before the 2 February deadline.
