Three James Maddison replacements Tottenham could sign including ‘unbelievable’ Man City star
Tottenham are looking worryingly short of playmakers now that James Maddison has suffered a knee injury.
Maddison needs surgery on a torn ACL and is expected to miss of the upcoming season.
The timing couldn’t be worse for Tottenham, particularly as Son Hueng-min has just announced his departure from the North London club.

Harvey Elliott
Harvey Elliott has emerged as an early favourite to replace Maddison after news of his injury rocked the North London side.
Elliott was the star man as England under-21s won their European Championships this summer, but he has grown increasingly frustrated with his lack of starts at Liverpool.

He is ready to be a key player at another Premier League club, and Maddison’s injury may allow him to do so at Spurs.
Elliott would add plenty of energy to the Tottenham midfield, while his assist record per 90 minutes played is one of the best in the top flight.
Jack Grealish
Jack Grealish is another talented English playmaker who has grown frustrated with his lack of first-team opportunities.
The Manchester City star has been frozen out by manager Pep Guardiola, and he’ll need a transfer if he wants to play regularly ahead of next summer’s World Cup.
Tottenham were linked with a big-money move for the ‘unbelievable’ Grealish earlier in the summer.
The speculation surrounding this move has since cooled down, but Spurs could revamp their interest in Grealish now that Maddison is sidelined.
Eberechi Eze
Tottenham were also believed to be interested in Eberechi Eze earlier in the summer.
The Crystal Palace playmaker enjoyed a remarkable campaign in 2024-25, leading his side to victory with a goal in the FA Cup final.

Eze has recently been linked with a move to Arsenal, but Spurs have time to sneak in with a last-minute bid to steal him from under their rival’s nose.
