Spurs ‘hold massive secret weapon’ in Morgan Rogers chase after what Villa star’s previously revealed
Tottenham are interested in signing Aston Villa playmaker Morgan Rogers.
England international Rogers is being considered an alternative if Spurs fail to sign Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace.
Villa have slapped a huge price tag on Rogers in a bid to scare off potential suitors, but Tottenham still believe they can negotiate a suitable deal for all parties.
That could be made far easier based on the secret negotiating weapon they have within their first-team squad.

Morgan Rogers’ friendship with Brennan Johnson could hold key to Tottenham transfer
Rogers and Brennan Johnson have a well-known friendship which dates back to when they were both on loan at Lincoln City together.
Rogers has previously discussed this friendship and revealed that he still regularly speaks with Johnson.
In an interview with Sky Sports earlier in 2025, he said: “I didn’t know him at all and then we got so close and then bonded so well and to see both of us do well is ideal.”
Rogers has also been spotted interacting with Dominic Solanke on social media.
While these friendships can be common in the world of football, Tottenham fans will be hoping that Johnson and Solanke have a quiet word in Rogers’ ear before the transfer window closes.
New playmaker could be missing piece of puzzle for Tottenham
Tottenham have had a quieter transfer window than some have expected.
Many fans believed several world-class stars would be drafted into the squad following their Champions League qualification. It hasn’t quite worked out like that.
- Mohammed Kudus has been signed from West Ham.
- Kevin Danso and Matheus Tel have made their loans permanent.
- Joao Palhinha has arrived on a season-long loan.
But that’s it in terms of the headline activity.
Spurs have looked impressive in their opening games, though. They were within a whisker of beating Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Super Cup, and they masterfully dealt with Burnley in the Premier League.
A new playmaker to replace James Maddison while he’s injured could be the missing puzzle piece for Thomas Frank’s side this season.
Eze looks like the perfect candidate for the role, but Rogers could prove to be a very good alternative.
