Son Heung-min exit: Harry Redknapp details new signings amid Tottenham transfer talk
Tottenham have a busy summer ahead if they are to get themselves out of the rut they seem to have fallen into this season.
There has been plenty of debate about who’s to blame for the struggles that Spurs have faced and Ange Postecoglou could be facing the axe for his role to play.
However, several players have not been up to the required levels either, with captain Son Heung-min having come under criticism for his lacklustre performances.
Therefore, with the end of the season fast approaching, Daniel Levy will know that there are some big calls to be made both on and off the pitch.

Son set to stay put at Tottenham
Tottenham as a team have certainly been underwhelming this season and Son has been at the forefront of that disappointment due to his role as captain.
Furthermore, when you consider the levels he was performing alongside Harry Kane not too long ago, it certainly feels like a world away from his standards this season.
Spurs need new faces over the summer and a fresh squad that can help take the Lilywhites forward.
Therefore, at 32-years-old, it’s no surprise that he is someone who is being linked with an exit from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with some suggestions that he is not up to it anymore.
Nevertheless, Harry Redknapp has defended the South Korean and suggested that he could revive his career in north London as he told BetVictor (1 May): “It’s been a hard year for Tottenham, so it hasn’t been easy for Heung-min Son. The club’s league position isn’t down to him; Son has just been part of a team that has been in bad form all season. Who knows, next season we could see some new signings come in and start to see a rejuvenated Spurs team, and he could flourish again.
“If he’s got another year left on his contract, I imagine he’ll stay. He’s been a great servant to the club and has been part of moments fans will never forget. It’ll be up to him whether he wants to leave, but if he wants to stay at Tottenham, I don’t think the club will be able to sell him.”

Son can still have Tottenham future
Although it has been a disappointing season for Son at Tottenham, as Redknapp says, it’s not as though many players have covered themselves in glory.
However, the captain has shown his talent before and if the Lilywhites can up their standards, there is no reason why he can’t reach the same levels in an improved side.
Season | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
2024/25 | 28 | 7 | 10 |
2023/24 | 35 | 17 | 10 |
2022/23 | 36 | 10 | 6 |
There is a big decision to be made over the future of Postecoglou and that could well dictate the future of certain players too, meaning some decisions cannot be made yet.
As it stands, though, you can’t imagine Son having offers that promise a better level of football and therefore, if he stays put, he will be able to pay back the faith put in him over a series of seasons at Tottenham instead.
