Son announcement to be made in days as Tottenham press conference set
Son Heung-min’s future at Tottenham has become a major discussion this summer.
Son endured a poor season at Tottenham by his standards last time out as age began to catch up with the captain.
Spurs, meanwhile, also endured a disastrous season domestically, finishing 17th on 38 points, but were saved by their Europa League victory.
Following Ange Postecoglou’s sacking, many Tottenham players’ futures have come into question, with Son being linked with moves to Fenerbache and Los Angeles FC.

Son’s future to be a topic of discussion in Frank’s press conference
Thomas Frank’s appointment as Spurs boss has brought many questions about which players the former Brentford boss will build his side around.
Frank is set to clear up the futures of much of his squad in his first press conference on Friday (18 July), ahead of his first game away to Reading.
Alasdair Gold (14 July) is expecting the Danish manager to have a talk with his skipper before the press conference to clear up whether Son wishes to leave or not.
Son returned to training on Friday (11 July) after being given extra time for family commitments before returning to Hotspur Way.
The South Korean has one year left on his current contract, meaning Spurs will need to sell this summer if they wish to recoup a fee for him.
One way or another, there should be some clarity by the end of this week when Frank speaks to reporters.

Tottenham need to start phasing Son out
Son has been an excellent servant at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, having spent a decade in North London after his move from Bayer Leverkusen in 2015.
The forward got his crowning moment in May with the 1-0 victory over Manchester United in the Europa League final, a moment that will live on in Spurs fans’ memories for years to come.
However, Son’s time at the top is coming to an end.
Competition | Apperances | Goals | Assists |
Premier League | 30 | 7 | 10 |
UEFA Europa League | 10 | 3 | 1 |
FA Cup | 4 | 1 | 0 |
Carabao Cup | 2 | 0 | 1 |
South Korean international Son struggled in large parts last season, ending the season by failing to register a goal involvement in his final seven appearances, while also missing another seven games through injury.
With Frank’s side possessing a mixture of great young talent and senior stars up top, including Brennan Johnson, Dominic Solanke and Mathys Tel, Son’s time as a guaranteed starter is coming to an end.
It’s been a beautiful relationship between the winger and Spurs, but it’s time to start focusing on the future.
