Sky Sports host stunned by ‘Major’ Tottenham transfer twist, ‘Wow’

Sky Sports News presenter Anton Toloui was left stunned live on air by a “major” Tottenham transfer development on Deadline Day.

Reporter Michael Bridges relayed news of Tottenham bidding around £70million for Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi, first reported by David Ornstein of The Athletic.

That bid is believed to have been rejected, but Tottenham have until 11pm on Monday (3 February) to potentially get a deal over the line.

“The story we’re getting now, first reported by David Ornstein of The Athletic, is that Crystal Palace have rejected a bid of £70million for Marc Guehi,” Bridges said [3 February, 10:27am]. “That is a major development.”

In response to that, Toloui simply responded: “Wow”.

Tottenham desperate in pursuit of Crystal Palace skipper Marc Guehi

Tottenham have already brought in Kevin Danso late on in the window, but it is clear Ange Postecoglou wants another centre-back.

Plenty have been linked with a move to North London over the past few weeks, but talk of Guehi has seemingly come out of nowhere.

Not only is there interest there, a mammoth offer has also been lodged. Daniel Levy was no doubt expecting the £70m bid to be enough.

As Sky reporter Bridges put it, it really is a “major” development on Deadline Day. Whether Guehi is worth £70m is up for debate, but surely going in with an even higher offer is off the table.

However, only time will tell on what should be an exciting day at Spurs.

In other Tottenham news, a new £10million Archie Gray agreement could be reached in an easy deal.
