‘RB Leipzig ready to accept £52m bid as Tottenham hunt Xavi Simons deal’
Thomas Frank remains determined to bolster his attacking options at Tottenham.
Despite defence proving to be Tottenham’s Achilles heel under Ange Postecoglou, his Danish successor is intent on adding more creativity to Spurs’ front line.
Only Liverpool topped the North Londoners in goals scored in transition last season, but the Lilywhites often struggled to unlock stubborn defences that played in a low block.
Signing Mohammed Kudus, who was statistically only behind Jeremy Doku as the most successful dribbler in the league, will help Frank’s team, but the 51-year-old is keen to bring in more gifted attackers.

Leipzig willing to sell Simons for £52million+
Tottenham have reported an interest in Xavi Simons after the 22-year-old fell out of favour with his parent club, RB Leipzig.
The versatile forward only joined the German club on a permanent deal last summer after a successful loan spell, but a breakdown between the two parties has seen him added to their transfer list.
It is expected that Simons will want to compete in the Premier League, and Spurs may be even more interested now that his price tag has been set, according to Sport Bild (July 16).
His parent club are looking for a fee above £52million for his signature as they are increasingly keen to offload the Netherlands international.
Season | Appearances | Goals | Assists | Minutes Played |
2024/25 | 33 | 11 | 8 | 2,763′ |
2023/24 | 43 | 10 | 15 | 3,468′ |
Spurs are expected to face competition from numerous clubs, including Bayern Munich, after the Bundesliga Champions failed to secure Florian Wirtz or Luis Diaz.
However, with the price now set, Tottenham can quickly swoop in for Simons and make another statement signing for Frank.

Simons would be a risk for Spurs
Simons undoubtedly possesses exceptional talent and has the technical ability to be an instant hit in N17 if he plays to his maximum potential. He is also the perfect age to continue his development under Frank.
However, signing the young attacker would not be without risk as Simons has no prior Premier League experience, which does not bode well with Spurs’ track record of signing expensive talents from abroad.
The Paris Saint-Germain academy product has also struggled to settle, as evidenced by his record of moving between clubs around Europe.
Given his price tag is not too dissimilar to players like Morgan Gibbs-White, Spurs may consider the move for Simons too much of a gamble.
