Piero Hincapie part of three-man Tottenham shortlist ‘fans will love’

Bayer Leverkusen defender Piero Hincapie is wanted at Tottenham this transfer window.

The North London outfit have signed Kota Takai from Kawasaki Frontale and completed the permanent addition of Kevin Danso and Luka Vuskovic in recent weeks.

Hincapie has been on Spurs’ radar for some time now, and they could potentially break the bank for the Ecuador centre-back in N17.

The 23-year-old isn’t the Lilywhites’ only target, though, as they look to strengthen other areas of the pitch with some quality players.

Tottenham want Hincapie on top of Eberechi Eze and Savinho

Hincapie has emerged as the favourite candidate for Spurs to bolster the left side of their defence, according to Paul O Keefe.

The North London outfit’s insider revealed on X on 15 August that Thomas Frank sees the Ecuador international as the ideal candidate to bolster the backline.

It’s been claimed that while the Lilywhites want the 23-year-old, any deal will be difficult and involve a large fee.

Crystal Palace attacker Eberechi Eze and Manchester City winger Savinho are other targets, and Spurs fans will undoubtedly love Daniel Levy if they sign all of them.

Frank should anticipate Spurs defender exits after Hincapie transfer

Radu Dragusin’s future at Spurs seems to be in its final weeks, considering his position in the pecking order.

The Romania international suffered a serious injury last season, and it doesn’t look like he’ll get many minutes at the North London outfit in the 2025/26 campaign.

Frank has also told Vuskovic to find a new club temporarily, as his development could potentially be hindered if he were to sit on the bench in N17.

Tottenham may also worry about one of their current star defenders, like Micky van de Ven or Cristian Romero, demanding an exit after Hincapie’s arrival.

If Spurs spend a hefty sum on the Ecuadorian defender, he’ll certainly be expected to be a significant part of the Danish manager’s plans.

With Romero being handed the captain’s armband, his future in N17 seems set, leaving Van de Ven as a possible candidate to leave the North London outfit soon.

While a deal for the Leverkusen centre-back doesn’t look likely at the moment, it will surely be one to keep an eye on.
